Active Citizens Fund

From 1 April 2022, as part of the Active Citizens Fund program and thanks to the support of the OSF Foundation, we are implementing the Action Now project. Thanks to it, we offer solutions to current problems: conceptualization of work in the region, reaching out to new volunteers, the need for professionalization of organizations when working with volunteers, networking and joint events. We see informing the public about the activities of NGOs, understanding the work and importance of the non-profit sector by the public, and involving the public in activities in the local community as essential.

Over the course of two years:

We support volunteering in the South Moravian Region.

  • We improve communication with organizations, informal groups and local government.

We increase the civic engagement of young people.

  • we consult projects with young people (15-30 years old), network and educate them.

We are focused on improving promotion.

  • We create videos and increase our reach on social networks.

The project is being supported by the Open Society Fund Prague from the Active Citizens Fund. The programme promotes active citizens’ participation in the public life through decision making and helps to build the capacities of socio-civil organizations. It promotes respect and human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and the respect for human rights including the rights of persons belonging to minorities. Active Citizens Fund came to the Czech Republic in September 2019 with the goal of supporting CSOs regardless of their size and experience. It is operated by the Open Society Fund Prague, Committee of Good Will - the Olga Havel Foundation and Scout Institute. The Active Citizens Fund is financed from EEA and Norway Grants 2014–2021. With EEA Grants, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway contribute towards a reduction in economic and social disparity and the strengthening of mutual cooperation in Europe. One of the important objectives of the programme is to strengthen bilateral cooperation between donor and beneficiary states through financial contributions in specified priority sectors. It supports bilateral relations between the donor states Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein and the Czech Republic.

The year 2020

Since 1 April 2020, we have been part of the Active Citizen Fund program and, thanks to the support of the OSF Foundation, we are launching our project We are developing together. During this year and a half long project, we will build and improve our capacities, professionalize our work and work together with experts on our media and fundraising methods.

Through this, we expect to excite and bring others to volunteer. You can look forward to, for example, the two-day Action days event, in which twenty non-profit organizations will participate and together with us will prepare interesting activities for you. We believe that the Action Days campaign will lead to the involvement of individuals and a deepening of awareness of the work of non-profit organizations in the South Moravian Region. The project also includes auctions, thanks to which we will gain partial financial independence. We will involve individual donors from among well-known personalities in the auctions. We will acquire new knowledge and experience in the field of social media and fundraising, we will improve processes in the organization.
